What is your favorite memory of Camp Caribou?

Well, my most lasting memory is definitely hiking Katahdin my super senior year, and I probably still hold the camp record for most time spent on the mountain. It’s hard to narrow it down to one favorite memory, but I’d say returning as a counselor and getting the warm welcome from people that I hadn’t seen in a few years was just a great feeling. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into that summer, but I felt right back at home the second I arrived. I’ll never forget that summer, and it’ll be tough to top in my life.

What Caribou values or lessons have you brought into your life after camp?

It’s cool to be nice will stick with me forever. But I think camp really taught me how to do things outside my comfort zone. As you all know, I wasn’t much of an outdoors guy, but things like hiking Katahdin or the other trips that Tim S. and Bill made me go on taught me a ton about myself. How to survive in uncomfortable environments, what I was capable of doing physically, and just overcoming many fears. I never would’ve done so many things if it wasn’t for camp. I think the whole experience just toughened me up in general.

Favorite piece of life advice?

That you can do anything you put your mind to, honestly. I know that’s cliche, but I had a lot of people tell me that I couldn’t make it as a reporter in such a competitive field. It has always been my dream, and if you want it bad enough, you can go and get it.
