Andy Godnick is this weeks Alumni Spotlight! Godnick was at Caribou from 2006 – 2016 as a camper, then Basketball Coach. As a long time Caribou guy, Andy exemplified the meaning of “It’s cool to be nice at Camp Caribou.” Andy was a stand out camper, a reliable and trustworthy staff member, and has now taken his talents to the NBA! Check out his blurb on what Camp Caribou meant to him:

Favorite Camp Memory: When you first think of camp your first thought may jump right to an intense CMCL game or a heated instructional, but for me, the times at bunk night as a camper and a counselor stand out the most. The surroundings of your best friends in nature on that peninsula make any bickering from earlier in the day lose importance. It’s the small things at Camp Caribou that had the greatest impact on my life, from a game of boast and toast or stories over some hotdogs and s’mores.

What Caribou values or lessons have you brought into your life after camp?:Bill closes off final campfire with a message of what Camp Caribou is really about: “There are good ships, and wood ships, Ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, may they always be!” A friendship built at camp holds a different meaning compared to other friendships, as no matter what they will always make you feel like you hit the game winning shot, even when the results don’t really go your way.

Life Lesson learned at Camp: Today I still keep that thought in mind, as I approach everything I do with a game winning shot mentality. Don’t be afraid to try something different or ask a question – the worst thing they can say is no.
